{Dress: Beacon’s Closet. Shoes: Garage sale}
For July 4th, my mom had a little barbeque with some of her friends, and the reaction I got from everyone there was, “great maxi!” or “oh you finally got a maxi!”
but I had to correct them and say, actually, I bought this two years ago. but this is my first time publicly wearing it. (enter confusion)
yes, I found this dress at beacon’s closet about two winters ago with my friend A, and bought it because even though maxi dresses were not yet in style, I love the braided top, and just thought it was lovely! but then out of fear of general public reactions, mixed with the fact that the dark, heavy fabric is a bit much for hot summer days, I’ve never actually worn it.
This is good though, because one of my “sustainable style” goals is to use my closet to its fullest, and wear things from my closet that I haven’t worn. Success!
Hope everyone’s holiday was festive and fun! :]

{tank: nordstrom. skirt: handmade} {pictures 1&3 - film. pictures 2&4 - digital}
I’ve sewn so much stuff for myself lately, so I made a vow that I would start making stuff that doesn’t fit me, so that I would be forced to give it to friends or sell it. Unfortunately, even though I made this skirt two sizes smaller than what the measurements said my size would be, it still fit.
soooo I put it on a hanger… in my closet. instead of on etsy. oops

If prisoners had the option to be more fashionable, they would totally wear this shirt. Lines of ribbon and peachy lace beat out pin stripes and bright orange any day.
I’ve been sewing quite a bit lately, mostly because I’ve been trapped in my house (prison, get it?). I bought this vintage fabric last summer at an antique store my friend L was working at. All I’ve been wanting to wear so far this summer are loose, sheer tops, so this material was perfect. I’m happy with how it came out! It’s perfect for the beach or for a really hot day when it’s slightly more acceptable to wear see-through shirts.

The picture isn’t crooked or sideways at all.
I’m getting ready to go to dinner now in the city with my rents, and I was playing with this black top, and was trying to figure out what to wear it with, and I thought this skirt might look cool. Maybe I’m just being influenced because the high school prom is tonight, but couldn’t this lacy top and tulle skirt combo pass as a prom dress? I pulled my prom shoes out from my closet to complete the outfit.

come again another day.
Let me explain. I came home with a great summer plan of going for an outdoor run every morning, bike riding everywhere, wearing flouncy dresses, and taking outdoor blog pictures every day. Instead, I come home, and here is the forecast for the next week (courtesy of weather.com):

Ummm excuse me? Rain until Sunday??? This just can’t be! On Saturday before all the rain started, I went to a few really good garage sales (one of my favorite summer activities), and got a few really cool new pieces that I wanted to share! Hopefully by Sunday, or maybe even before (hi weather gods), I will have some lovely pictures for you :)

After two weeks of torturous finals, I had just one day to play in the city before it was time for me to head home for the summer. My friends and I decided to go to the Met!
When I decided to go to school in New York, one thing I remember I got really excited about was wearing heels. I had decided that I would wear heels all the time, because in a city like New York, I could do things like that. You can ask my mom to vouch for this one, but I remember a week or so after I sent in my deposit, I was at annie sez, and I tried on these like, neon betsy johnson mesh-material heels, and fully intended on buying them so I could “casually” wear them around New York.
Fortunately, I did not buy those shoes. Unfortunately, I didn’t get much heel action this year! So I decided that on the very last day before heading home, I would wear heels out and about New York. success!
